Blue Cross North Carolina is offering voluntary separation packages to eligible employees, according to a company statement shared with Becker’s.

The changes come months after the insurer restructured.

“The rising cost of healthcare, market volatility and legislative and regulatory pressures continue to place strain on the entire health care system, and Blue Cross NC is not immune,” the statement said. “Our actions reflect our commitment to doing our part to help lower costs for the people who count on us.”

The insurer did not specify how many employees are eligible or how they would be compensated.
