Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare is now going out of network with Cigna on Oct. 1 following an extension, according to a system news release.

The contract was originally scheduled to terminate Sept. 8, but now patients with Cigna coverage will be able to receive care through the system until next month.

The extension will continue as “Norton and Cigna work on finalizing a long-term agreement,” the release said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
