Effectuated ACA enrollment has increased 13% since 2024 and nearly 93% of enrollees qualify for enhanced premium tax credits, according to an August report from CMS.
Six notes:
- Total effectuated enrollment as of February 2025 was nearly 23.4 million, or 96% of the 24.3 million total enrollees reported.
- Of the 23.4 million enrollees, 21.8 million (93%) received enhanced premium tax credits.
- Cost-sharing reduction enrollment increased to 12.5 million, or 53% of enrollees.
- The average monthly premium before enhanced tax credits was $618, compared to $603 in February 2024. The average monthly premium paid after enhanced tax credits was $105, nearly unchanged from 2024.
- The average monthly enhanced tax credit for enrollees receiving it was $549, up from $535 in February 2024.
- The average premium per month across all states varies significantly, with New Hampshire averaging $470 and Alaska averaging $1,172. Mississippi had the highest percentage (99%) of ACA enrollees receiving enhanced tax credits, while New Hampshire had the lowest (25%).
