CMS lifts enrollment freeze on Florida PACE organization

CMS has lifted an enrollment sanction imposed on PACE Partners of Northeast Florida, effective Aug. 6.

The enrollment suspension came after more than a year of regulatory action following compliance deficiencies identified during audits conducted in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In 2024, CMS determined the company failed to maintain required contracts with certain medical specialists, prompting the agency to freeze enrollment on May 17, 2024.

On March 31, the organization said it had corrected all violations cited in the original sanction notice, which CMS agreed with.

CMS has directed PACE Partners to continue and maintain its corrective action and monitoring activities. Any future failure to comply with federal PACE program requirements could result in further sanctions, monetary penalties or termination of the program’s contract.

In April, CMS fined three other PACE organizations for failing to meet essential program requirements, including inadequate service provision, poor tracking and documentation of services, and failure to ensure recommended services were either provided or properly documented with valid reasons for non-provision.
