Vanessa Colella has been named president and CEO of healthcare technology company Stellarus.

Stellarus was created in January when Blue Shield of California launched a new corporate structure. The nonprofit insurer created a new parent company, Ascendiun, to oversee its health plan and other companies, including Stellarus.

Ms. Colella previously held global leadership roles in innovation and digital partnerships at Visa and Citi, according to a July 30 Stellarus news release. She succeeds Paul Markovich, who served in the role on an interim basis. Mr. Markovich is the president of Ascendiun and previously served as CEO of Blue Shield of California for more than a decade.

Stellarus partners with health plans, using its technology innovation platform to help cut administrative costs, reduce the cost of healthcare trend, increase member and provider net promoter scores, and uphold quality targets, according to the release.
