Aware Integrated, the parent company of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, reported an operating income of $27.6 million in 2024, with an operating margin under 1%.”
The company published its 2024 financial results April 3. The company brought in $16.5 billion in total revenue. In 2023, the Aware Integrated brought in $103.7 million in operating income and $15.3 billion in total revenue. The company’s operating income was down 73% from 2023.
Healthcare utilization was at “historically high levels” in 2024, BCBS Minnesota CEO Dana Erickson said in a news release.
“The impact of those costs was offset by multiple years of administrative and operational expense savings and an increase in overall membership,” Ms. Erickson said.
Several Blue Cross Blue Shield plans have reported operating losses in 2024, citing rising medical utilization and drug costs.
