The product, called GapAssist, will include accident, critical illness and inpatient hospital benefits. The three gap plans — Base, Classic and Premier, all with varying benefit amounts — are intended to complement high-deductible health plans.

Accident coverage is intended for eligible emergency department visits, physician fees and tests up to a set maximum benefit. The critical illness plan offers a lump-sum benefit upon the diagnosis of a covered critical illness. The fixed-payment inpatient hospital coverage offers per day benefits for covered stays in healthcare facilities.
