The change applies to the 31 states that use the federal enrollment website. Individuals who enroll for 2025 coverage after Dec. 18 will have benefits begin Feb. 1. Enrollment for coverage that begins in February is set to continue through Jan. 15.

Enrollment in ACA plans hit a record high of 21.4 million in 2024, though some insurers have reported a recent slowdown in sign-ups.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 17–19 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
