The Cigna Group Health Equity Impact Fund will provide $9 million to target health disparities in specific communities. Houston and Hartford, Conn. will be the first communities to receive funding, according to a July 22 news release.
In Houston, funding will focus on supporting Hispanic adults by providing nutrition education, fresh food access, and transportation for health visits and healthy physical activities.
In Hartford, funding will also go toward increasing access to transportation and expanding the availability of culturally appropriate care models for Black and Hispanic adults.
