Virginia Children’s Care Network will receive funding from Sentara to support population health efforts, according to a July 2 news release from the insurer. The network will be eligible for bonus payments if it meets certain quality metrics.

The value-based arrangement will align quality goals with those established by Virginia’s Medicaid program, according to the release.

Virginia Children’s Care Network comprises community physicians supported by Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Sentara Health Plans is part of Hampton Roads, Va.-based Sentara Health. The plan has nearly 1 million members in Virginia and Florida across Medicaid and individual plans.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 17–19 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
