The bill would allow state Medicaid agencies to hire outside contractors to help work through the process, according to an Aug. 10 news release from Georgia Rep. Buddy Carter, who sponsored the bill with Florida Rep. Neal Dunn.
The release said that with 229,000 local government jobs and 133,000 state government jobs yet to be recovered since February 2020, some states do not have the workforce to handle the task.
As of Aug. 10, more than 4.3 million people have been removed from Medicaid during redeterminations, and 74 percent of disenrollments are due to procedural reasons, according to KFF.
