Seventy-seven percent of Americans who reviewed their health plan choices for 2026 “felt good” about their options, according to a Dec. 3 eHealth survey.

The health insurance marketplace surveyed more than 1,500 adults nationwide in November.

Medicare beneficiaries reported the highest satisfaction, followed by those with employer-sponsored plans, despite other research suggesting employer plans do not always meet worker needs.

While over half of respondents and 79% of Americans in ACA plans were surprised by steep premium costs, 57% of ACA enrollees were optimistic about Congress passing an enhanced subsidy extension.

Based on analysis of the first half of Medicare’s enrollment period, the average out-of-pocket maximum for Medicare Advantage increased 8% from 2025.

“While many Americans are satisfied with their coverage options for 2026, many are facing significant cost increases and less rich benefits,” eHealth CEO Derrick Duke said. “To help counteract those trends, it is crucial consumers compare their plan options to make the optimal benefit decision for themselves and their loved ones.”

Still, average MA premiums did not change in 2026, and 86% of these selected plans have no monthly premium — up slightly from 85% last year. Deductibles decreased 2.8% on average, as well.

About two-thirds of Medicare beneficiaries also said President Donald Trump’s administration “is making the needs of health insurance enrollees a high priority,” compared to 57% overall. The majority of Americans support President Trump’s push for GLP-1 accessibility, with one-third planning on taking a drug once discounts become available.

The survey found AI is generally favorable for health insurance shopping, with the majority of Americans saying they would use these tools in their search if they saved time and money.
