Effective July 12, ESHB-1196 rules that audio-only telehealth care must be covered by insurers throughout Washington state.

There are concerns with hazy language that could confuse where patients get telehealth from and who is reimbursed for services, according to the Washington State Wire

Also of concern were portions of the new bill that pertain to pre-service consent and requirements for patients to have attended a recent in-person appointment with the provider prior to receiving services.

A new draft of rules will be issued July 24, with a follow-up stakeholder meeting in August, according to the Washington State Wire.
