Here are four things to know about Mr. Sparks.
1. As CEO of UnitedHealth’s Community Plan of Kansas, Mr. Sparks will helm the payer’s Medicaid health plans in Kansas, as well as its private-sector employer and individual health plans.
2. He succeeds Tim Spilker, who UnitedHealthcare promoted to CEO of its northeast region, the report states.
3. He previously was COO of technology provider Quartet Health. Mr. Sparks was also an executive for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Cobalt Ventures, Coventry Health Care of Kansas and HealthNet of Kansas City.
4. UnitedHealthcare also tapped Robert Broomfield as the payer’s CEO of employer and individual business for its Iowa-Kansas-Nebraska region, The Kansas City Star reports.
