States ranked by percentage of uninsured residents in 2022

Texas had the highest percentage of uninsured residents in 2022, while Massachusetts had the lowest, according to new data released by the Census Bureau Sept. 14 as part of its American Community Survey. The national uninsured rate was eight percent.

States ranked by percentage of uninsured residents in 2022:

Texas: 16.6 percent

Oklahoma: 11.7 percent

Georgia: 11.7 percent

Wyoming: 11.5 percent

Florida: 11.2 percent

Nevada: 11.1 percent

Alaska: 11 percent

Mississippi: 10.8 percent

Arizona: 10.3 percent

North Carolina: 9.3 percent

Tennessee: 9.3 percent

South Carolina: 9.1 percent

Alabama: 8.8 percent

Kansas: 8.6 percent

Missouri: 8.6 percent

Arkansas: 8.4 percent

Montana: 8.3 percent

South Dakota: 8.1 percent

Utah: 8.1 percent

Idaho: 8.2 percent

New Mexico: 8.2 percent

Colorado: 7.1 percent

Indiana: 7 percent

Louisiana: 6.9 percent

New Jersey: 6.8 percent
