Sidecar Health members can now see a guaranteed price for nearly every physician visit in the U.S. before receiving care.
The update covers all office visits nationwide, from primary care to specialists and therapists, as well as common add-on services like vaccines, blood draws and EKGs. Members see the guaranteed cost in the insurer’s app before their appointment and are never charged more than that amount, even if the provider bills higher or adds services. If costs exceed the guarantee, Sidecar absorbs the difference, the company said March 4.
The only exceptions are for complex services, where members work with the company to find options at or below their benefit amount.
The model works on a shared-savings structure. If a member chooses a provider that charges less than the plan’s benefit amount, they keep half the savings. According to the company, 93% of claims result in little to no additional out-of-pocket cost, and when members do pay above the benefit amount, the difference averages less than $50.
The announcement follows a May 2025 update in which Sidecar added provider quality scores that allow members to compare both cost and clinical quality before scheduling services.
Sidecar operates without traditional network restrictions, prior authorizations or referral requirements, and currently serves employers ranging from small businesses to large multinationals.
