ProMedica insurance subsidiary sues Ohio over Medicaid documents

The insurance arm of ProMedica in Toledo, Ohio, filed a lawsuit seeking documents from the state Medicaid department on its managed care contract awards, according to the Toledo Blade.

Paramount Advantage filed its complaint against the Ohio Department of Medicaid May 7. The insurance company seeks documents it needs to protest the state's selection of six other insurers to manage its Medicaid program.

Paramount has argued its exclusion from the $20 billion managed care program, which begins Jan. 5, was biased, according to the Toledo Blade. It wants the Ohio Court of Claims to order a mediation hearing and have the state give the documents to Paramount.

The Ohio Department of Medicaid declined the Toledo Blade's request for comment on the lawsuit.
