HHS has approved Pennsylvania's plan to use federal Medicaid expansion funding to launch Healthy Pennsylvania, a program that will promote affordable care and increase access to care for the uninsured, Gov. Tom Corbett (R) announced yesterday.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act could lead to higher health insurance premiums for 11 million employees at small businesses, although it might also reduce rates for about 6 million others, according to a CMS report.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. and Aetna signed a new two-year deal, which will allow Aetna members in-network access to Tenet's 77 hospitals and numerous outpatient centers.

CMS has released proposed payment rates for Medicare Advantage plans in calendar year 2015, including a potential 1.9 percent pay cut.
