In a sense, while there is a significant push for entities to push for vaccination, that effort is tied to getting members back into regular preventive care, Dr. Schwartz said on “Becker’s Payer Issues Podcast.”

Dr. Talya Schwartz: A growing priority for us will be to make sure that people are really getting plugged back into care. Although we are seeing some pick-up in terms of regular medical care, after what happened in 2020, we’re still seeing a significant lag. We’re seeing a lag in immunizations for kids. We’re seeing a lag in screening procedures screening for cancer, dental care, and even treatments for chronic conditions.
People are still a little wary about accessing hospitals and medical offices. And so some of the regular medical needs are being neglected too, to some extent. So while the immediate priority is to make sure that as many people as possible are getting immunized, it’s also important to help people get back on track and get all of the services that they require either to stay healthy or to treat their conditions and prevent complications.
