The health option, called the “Wisconsin Value Network,” includes the state’s largest provider, Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care; Milwaukee-based Columbia St. Mary’s; Waukesha, Wis.-based ProHealth Care; and Green Bay, Wis.-based Bellin Health. The plan is targeted at employers with less than 1,000 workers.
Milwaukee-based Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Milwaukee-based Froedtert Health were left out of the network. Children’s spoke out about its exclusion, saying the plan is not for children and buyers may not receive coverage for their expenses at the facility.
Humana said if primary physicians refer patients to excluded hospitals like Children’s, patients will be in-network. The insurer also offers other plans with Children’s and Froedtert, according to the report.
Humana will begin quoting prices for the network’s plan Oct. 1 with coverage beginning Jan. 1.
