The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association commended the House of Representatives’ vote to extend healthcare tax credits in a Jan. 9 statement shared with Becker’s.

A spokesperson said the credits are “the most straightforward and effective step Congress can take right now to protect millions of families from financial hardship.” The statement further praised the vote as a “positive step” in that direction.

“We stand ready to work with anyone who wants to partner on this commitment to lowering healthcare costs because we know Americans expect us to come together to take on this challenge,” the spokesperson said.

The extension would last three years. While the measure is now in the Senate’s hands, it is not expected to pass. A bipartisan team of senators is preparing their own legislation for a two-year extension.
