The agreement began Jan. 1, according to a Dec. 29 WakeMed news release. The contract keeps Cigna beneficiaries with commercial and marketplace plans in-network with WakeMed.

The new contract provides Cigna members in-network access to hospitals, outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and 210 PET imaging and specialty care physicians, according to the release. WakeMed primary care providers remain in-network under a separate contract.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
