The state’s current program, which provides coverage for over 200,000 citizens, was created in 2013 as a substitute to traditional Medicaid expansion.
However, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (R) hopes to set new limits on the program. In a Dec. 29 letter to HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell, Gov. Hutchinson outlined his plan to restrict some assets and require certain citizens to pay a premium.
A spokesperson from his office said Gov. Hutchinson will meet with Secretary Burwell this month to talk about the changes.
