Walgreens, Humana looking to take equity stakes in each other

The partnership between Humana and Walgreens Boots Alliance could expand to include investment stakes, sources told The Wall Street Journal.

The two companies are in early talks about taking equity stakes in each other, and they're also discussing a wide range of ventures, including one that expands their partnership focused on serving seniors. However, there is no guarantee the companies will reach a deal, according to the report.

Walgreens and Humana are looking for ways to escalate their partnership and diversify as Amazon pushes into the industry and CVS Health prepares to close its $69 billion deal to buy Aetna.
