This is the first time CMS has issued financial penalties for violations related to beneficiary notices in Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D since October 2013, according to a Law360 report.
Here are the six insurers that were penalized along with the amount each was fined.
- Health Net of Arizona — $349,075
- UnitedHealthcare of New York — $149,150
- Indiana University Health Plan — $101,675
- Atrio Health Plans — $69,405
- Fallon Community Health Plan —$52,045
- The Carle Foundation — $34,445
