UC Health, UnitedHealthcare yet to agree on rate contract

The rate contract between Cincinnati-based UC Health and health insurer UnitedHealthcare is set to expire this week and if a new contract isn’t reached, UnitedHealthcare members might have to pay out-of-network costs for care at UC Health facilities, according to a Journal-News report.

A UnitedHealthcare spokesman told the Journal-News the insurer was in “ongoing discussions” with the health system, and UnitedHealthcare is “committed to renewing the hospital system’s participation” in its network.

Approximately 23,000 UnitedHealthcare members would be affected if a new rate contract isn’t agreed upon.
