Trump administration is promoting Medicare Advantage

The Trump administration has been sending enrollees emails promoting the benefits of Medicare Advantage ahead of the Medicare enrollment deadline on Dec. 7, The New York Times reports.

Subject lines of such emails include, "Get more benefits for your money," or "See if you can save money with Medicare Advantage," according to the report. The emails say they are funded by HHS and created by CMS.

CMS Administrator Seema Verma told The New York Times the agency is not promoting private over public plans. However, a former chief Medicare actuary told The New York Times the emails were unusual for a federal agency since they do not mention the  positives and negatives of the plan.
