Appleton, Wis.-based ThedaCare, a community health system consisting of seven hospitals, expressed frustration with the insurance carrier after falling short of a contract agreement Thursday. The health system contract with Network Health Plan officially ends July 2016.
“ThedaCare has had an offer on the table for more than a year to extend our contract with Network Health Plan,” the company said in an official statement. “We urged Network Health Plan to meet earlier on this matter, but they requested a weeks delay. Throughout, we negotiated in good faith, desiring to extend within the existing terms of the contract.”
Network Health Plan of Menasha, Wis., remains determined to resolve the contract dispute despite ThedaCare’s decision to call off negotiations.
“Despite recent ThedaCare statements, Network Health met with ThedaCare with the goal of putting members needs first and negotiating an extension to best serve our mutual customers,” said Network Health in a statement released to WBAY. “Our goal continues to be a long-term relationship that will ensure affordability and quality healthcare for our customers now and in the future.”
ThedaCare is urging plan members to speak with an insurance agent or human resources department about alternative plan options, according to WBAY.
