States with highest, lowest average monthly ACA premium tax credit

The national average monthly Advance Premium Tax Credit — which makes healthcare coverage more affordable for Americans between 100 percent and 400 percent of the federal poverty line — is $272, according to data compiled by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Under the ACA, enrollees can apply some or all tax credits to their health insurance premiums on a monthly basis to make coverage more affordable. The amount of tax credits enrollees receive depends on income and the cost of the second lowest cost silver plan available in their particular area, according to KFF.

While the national average APTC is $272, the 10 states with the highest APTCs all top this amount.
