Mountain States Health Alliance to shut down health plan

Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance confirmed Wednesday it will shut down CrestPoint Health, the health system's insurance plan operated by its subsidiary Integrated Solutions Health Network, reports WJHL.  

Below are three things to know.

1. CrestPoint Health offered coverage to MSHA employees and those who chose CrestPoint for Medicare Advantage.

2. CrestPoint will terminate its Medicare Advantage plan June 1. MSHA employee coverage will be taken over by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee July 1.

3. MSHA's board decided to terminate CrestPoint to focus on other priorities, such as running multiple facilities, recruiting and retaining physicians and updating technology, according to the article.
