Minnesota previews 2015 health insurance premiums

The Minnesota Commerce Department is getting ready to preview early snapshots of next year’s premium rates for the state’s health insurance exchange, MNsure, according to a Star Tribune report.

Even though people who qualify for subsidies will not be able to get exact costs until the open enrollment period begins on Nov. 15, the snapshot gives consumers an estimate of how much they will pay for insurance. The snapshot will also let consumers know if any new plans will offer policies through MNsure.

Unfortunately for many consumers who purchased policies through MNsure last year, PreferredOne — the plan that offered some of the lowest premiums in the country — is no longer available after pulling out of MNsure earlier this month.

Even still, Minnesotans will be able to shop for better deals and recalculate their eligibility with these previews leading into open enrollment in mid-November.
