The plan will be available through Medical Mutual. The network, which will largely consist of MetroHealth physicians, providers and labs, is aimed at controlling care expenses. Other categories of care, including behavioral health and hospice care, will be provided by other healthcare organizations in the region.
Earlier this year, Akron, Ohio-based HealthSpan dissolved its medical group and divested its insurance business.. Medical Mutual acquired the insurance business from HealthSpan effective March 1. MetroHealth took over care services for more than 40,000 HealthSpan patients effective April 1.
