Humana director steps down to avoid possible conflict of interest

A member of Humana's board of directors resigned to avoid the appearance of any conflict of interest, according to an Oct. 15 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The board member, Karen DeSalvo, MD, is planning a new executive opportunity. Her resignation took effect Oct. 15.

The change comes less than a month after Humana named Karen Katz, former president and CEO of retailer Neiman Marcus Group, to its board of directors. Ms. Katz led Neiman Marcus Group, which operates Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and MyTheresa, from 2010-18.
