Cigna rebrands to the Cigna Group

Cigna is rebranding to The Cigna Group and launching two brands under the new corporate umbrella.

The company said Feb. 13 that the new health benefits segment is called Cigna Healthcare and will serve its commercial, government and international members.

Evernorth Health Services will house the company's pharmacy, care delivery and benefits solutions. Express Scripts, Express Scripts Pharmacy, Accredo, eviCore, MDLIVE and myMatrixx will exist under the Evernorth name.

"Over the last several years, we've built a diverse portfolio of leading capabilities to serve more people across our businesses," Lou Aversano, Cigna's chief brand and marketing officer, said. "Now, we are evolving our brand architecture to reflect how we are serving the breadth of our relationships today and into the future."

The restructuring mirrors how other major payers have branded themselves in recent years to reflect their insurance and healthcare services. UnitedHealth Group operates health benefits under UnitedHealthcare and medical services through Optum. Anthem rebranded to Elevance Health in 2022 and launched Carelon, its healthcare services brand. In 2023, Humana split between an insurance segment and healthcare services segment, CenterWell.
