UnitedHealthcare subsidiary Harken Health will not expand its clinics and Affordable Health Care Act plans to the Miami area next year, the StarTribune reported.

The Minnetonka, Minn.-based healthcare insurer and provider said it decided to hone in on its roughly 35,000 members in Atlanta and Chicago markets instead, but “believes people in South Florida could benefit greatly from our innovative model, and we look forward to offering access to those services as part of future expansion,” according to a statement from Jeff Shoemate, chief marketing and communications officer of Harken Health.

In May, Harken Health announced it would open 12 primary care clinics in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, according to the Miami Herald. Harken Health’s coverage is only available in or around counties where the insurer has health centers. The insurer looks to reshape healthcare by collecting a “membership fee” from each individual, as opposed to charging premiums. Members also visit “health centers,” where they receive team care, access to prescription drugs, health coaches, and yoga and nutrition classes.
