Unless a tax on managed care organizations is extended to all insurance companies, the Obama administration will no longer give certain contributions — which add up to $1.1 million — to Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program.
Thus, California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) called a legislative session last year to work out a finance package. Now, the state’s Senate and Assembly will mull over three possible bills to regulate taxes on health insurance plans.
In addition, the tax package includes funding for other incentives, including services for those with developmental disabilities and an increase for payments to care providers.
