Below are four things to know about the potential partnership.
1. Anthem Blue Cross recently issued a letter that said the insurer intends to begin discussions with Adventist Health in regard to the partnership Adventist is forming with CMC facilities in Fresno and Clovis by Jan. 1, 2017. Anthem currently contracts with California to provide some Medi-Cal benefits to Medi-Cal members.
2. The new partnership establishes a managed care network between the parties. Medi-Cal patients receiving care at rural health clinics under Adventist will be paired with higher-quality hospital services at Community Medical Centers, which offer burn services and Level I trauma centers.
3. The joint managed care venture between Adventist and a Community Medical Center in Kings, Calif., is already up and running.
4. According to Community’s senior vice president of managed care, Aldo De La Torre, within the next two years the new network could serve up to 200,000 managed Medi-Cal patients in Kings, Fresno, Tulare and Madera counties.
