5 recent payer-provider feuds, resolutions

Here are five recent articles posted by Becker's Hospital Review since Aug. 1 that concern payer-provider relationships.

1. A contract between Springfield (Ill.) Clinic and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois will end Aug. 19, and both sides are at odds over who is to blame.

2. A group of firefighters from Virginia to Maryland rallied outside of Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Hospital on Aug. 7 amid calls for an agreement between Mary Washington Healthcare and Cigna.

3. Wenatchee, Wash.-based Confluence Health announced Aug. 3 that it will not renew its contract with Premera Blue Cross. 

4. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Kentucky has collaborated with Edgewood, Ky.-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare on an initiative to lower costs of hospital-administered medications, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported Aug. 2.

5. Atlanta-based Northside Hospital has solidified a new contract agreement with UnitedHealthcare, effective Aug. 1.
