3 in 4 consumers worried about rising healthcare costs

Consumers are increasingly concerned about their rising health insurance premium costs, according to a new report from TransUnion.

Below are five statistics to know from the survey.

1. Nearly two in three (64.4 percent) of consumers said they are more concerned about the total cost of their healthcare services and procedures than they were last year.

2. About half of respondents said they are more concerned about what their health insurance actually covers, and how that impacts their payments.

4. Nearly 70 percent of respondents said receiving estimated costs prior to a procedure would better help them to anticipate costs and budget for payments. Nearly 57 percent of respondents said they would be more willing to return to a provider that offered billing estimates.

5. Around 58 percent of respondents said the rising cost of health insurance rates have added a financial strain to their budget or their families budget.
