17 payer-provider disputes, resolutions in October

Becker's Hospital Review reported these 17 contract resolutions and dissolutions between payers and providers in October, beginning with the most recent. 

1. Kaiser, Piedmont contract for in-network services through 2021
Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta will offer Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente health plan members in-network access to all facilities under a new contract.

2. U of Virginia Health System, Aetna launch co-branded Medicare Advantage plan
Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System unveiled a Medicare Advantage plan with Aetna Oct. 25.

3. Rural Oklahoma hospital to go out-of-network with BCBS over proposed 30% reimbursement cut
Stigler, Okla.-based Haskell County Community Hospital said it will have to stop accepting Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma policies as in-network if the insurer goes through with proposed rate cuts.

4. Boulder Medical Center, Humana roll out value-based payment model
Boulder (Colo.) Medical Center and Humana launched a value-based healthcare delivery model for Humana Medicare Advantage policyholders in Colorado.

5. University of Cincinnati Medical Center joins Anthem's Medicare network
Cincinnati-based Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio added University of Cincinnati Medical Center to its Medicare Advantage provider network.

6. Nearly all OSF HealthCare hospitals to leave BCBS network
All hospitals affiliated with Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare — save for Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Ill. — will no longer be in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois' preferred provider organization.

7. Vanderbilt University Medical Center inks contract with Cigna, now covered under 2018 ACA exchange
Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center signed an agreement granting in-network status to Cigna policyholders buying coverage on the 2018 ACA exchange. 

8. Cleveland Clinic enters third integrated payer partnership since June, this time with Anthem
Cleveland Clinic linked up with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio to offer a Medicare Advantage plan.

9. Independence Blue Cross, Tower Health end contract dispute
Tower Health in West Reading, Pa. — formerly Reading Health System — and Independence Blue Cross inked a three-year contract, effective immediately.

10. Humana adds 2 Iora Health practices to value-based network
Two Boston-based Iora Health primary care practices joined Louisville, Ky.-based Humana's Medicare Advantage network in Arizona.

11. Humana signs value-based agreement with 248-member physician group
Humana added Community Care Physicians in Latham, N.Y., to its value-based Medicare Advantage network. 

12. Detroit Medical Center, BCBS sign value-based reimbursement contract
Detroit Medical Center and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, also in Detroit, will collaborate on a value-based reimbursement model for the eight-hospital system. 

13. Mission Health, BCBS end contract: 5 things to know
Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System's contract with Durham-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina expired following a monthslong feud.

14. Hartford HealthCare, Aetna reach in-network deal
Members of Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna will maintain in-network access to Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare after the payer and provider renewed a contract set to expire in three months.

15. Augusta Health to terminate in-network contract with Anthem
Fishersville, Va.-based Augusta Health notified Anthem BlueCross BlueShield in Richmond, Va., it will terminate its contract with the payer by 2018.

16. Sanford Health, HealthPartners team up for Medicare plans
Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health and HealthPartners, a Minneapolis-based health plan managing government insurance, will launch Medicare plans in North Dakota and South Dakota effective Jan. 1.

17. Cleveland Clinic, Humana unveil 2 joint Medicare Advantage plans
Cleveland Clinic and Humana created two Medicare Advantage plans for patients in Ohio's Cuyahoga County.
