10 states with the highest, lowest uninsured rate

Massachusetts has the lowest percentage of uninsured adults of any state in the U.S., according to analysis by WalletHub.

To identify the states with the highest and lowest uninsured rates, WalletHub analysts compared the post-ACA uninsured rates in each of the 50 states.

Here are the 10 states with the lowest uninsured rates in 2016 based on the analysis. 

1. Massachusetts — 2.95 percent of adults were uninsured in 2016  
2. Hawaii — 3.9 percent
3. Vermont — 4.22 percent
4. Minnesota — 4.35 percent
5. Iowa — 4.78 percent
6. Rhode Island — 4.92 percent
7. Connecticut — 5.46 percent
8. Kentucky — 5.72 percent
9. Wisconsin — 5.76 percent
10. West Virginia — 6.17 percent

Here are the 10 states with the highest uninsured rates in 2016 based on the analysis.

1. Texas — 19.27 percent
2. Oklahoma — 15.92 percent
3. Alaska — 15.43 percent
4. Georgia — 15.06 percent
5. Mississippi — 14.23 percent
6. Florida — 14.16 percent
7. Nevada — 12.76 percent
8. Louisiana — 12.6 percent
9. Wyoming — 12.44 percent
10. North Carolina — 12.21 percent
