SCAN Group has added two new members — Benjamin Chu, MD, and Amol Navathe, MD, PHD — to its board of directors.
Dr. Chu, a retired clinician and administrator, is chair of the National Committee for Quality Assurance board and serves on the board for Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System, Geisinger Health Plan and Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
According to a Jan. 4 news release, Dr. Navathe is a faculty member in the departments of health policy and medicine and a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is also vice president and chair of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission.
SCAN Group plans to merge with another nonprofit health plan, CareOregon. Pending the merger's regulatory approval, Dr. Chu and Dr. Navathe will be members of the new combined board overseeing the two plans.
