New Jersey governor nominates 2 new Horizon BCBS board members after restructuring

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has nominated two new members for the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield Board of Directors, the New Jersey Globe reported Dec. 12.

One of those nominated is Hetty Rosenstein, former state director of the Communications Workers of America, according to the report. The other is Kelly Maer, public affairs director for Pennington-based Capital Health System.

The governor also renominated current board members Paul Juliano and Christopher Bateman, according to the report.

The nominations come after the state granted Horizon permission to reorganize its corporate structure as a nonprofit mutual holding company. As part of the agreement, the state is requiring a reconstituted board of directors, according to the report. The governor nominates five people to the board and are subject to state Senate confirmation. The Senate president and Assembly speaker each get to directly appoint two people to the board.

The governor has not yet nominated a fifth person, according to the report. The legislative leaders have not yet made their appointments.
