Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health appointed Karen Hanlon as president, effective immediately.
Ms. Hanlon will continue in her role as COO, according to an Oct. 8 Highmark Health news release. She is responsible for managing the operations of Highmark Health, Highmark Inc., enGen and Allegheny Health Network.
During her tenure as CFO and COO — roles she assumed in 2014 and 2018, respectively — Highmark Health saw its revenue grow from $17 billion in 2014 to a projected $33 billion by the end of 2025.
Highmark Health employs more than 44,000 people and serves more than 7 million health plan members across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and New York. Its provider arm, Allegheny Health Network, includes 14 hospitals and more than 2,500 affiliated physicians.
