The Wisconsin division of St. Louis-based Ascension will go out of network with UnitedHealthcare on Oct. 1 if the two sides are unable to agree to a new contract, Wisconsin Public Radio reported Sept. 2.
An Ascension Wisconsin spokesperson said that UnitedHealthcare’s proposal “doesn’t keep pace with the extraordinary inflation health systems are battling,” according to the report.
UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin CEO Dustin Hinton told the news outlet that it is actively engaged in good-faith negotiations with the system and its top priority is to “reach an agreement that is affordable for consumers and employers while providing continued, uninterrupted network access to Ascension’s hospitals and providers.”
